The Patapsco Delta East project includes the stabilization of approximately 591 linear feet of shoreline and the restoration 5.10 acres of phragmites dominated tidal wetlands along the Patapsco River. Restoration activities include removal and control of non-native invasive species, restoration of tidal flow and inundation, establishing native wetlands plant communities. The site includes the restoration and creation of tidal channels, low marsh, high marsh, supratidal zones and upland planting. Design features include a gravel beach, and woody debris structures for habitat and stabilization. The project will improve habitat for both aquatic and terrestrial species and improve water quality by improving tidal flushing and capturing/treating storm water before it enters the Patapsco River, a main tributary to the Chesapeake Bay. | — | Apr 9, 2025 |

THE INTENT OF PDE IS TO IMPROVE WATER QUALITY THROUGH SHORELINE STABILIZATION AND AQUATIC HABITAT IMPROVEMENTS. ADDITIONALLY, A NEW ADA COMPLIANT TIMBER BOARDWALK AND PLUNGE POOL ARE PART OF THE PROPOSED WORK. THE PROPOSED BOARDWALK IS TO ALLOW FOR COMMUNITY ACCESS TO AN EXISTING OFFSHORE FISHING PIER WHILE THE PROPOSED PLUNGE POOL WILL BE INSTALLED AT AN EXISTING OUTFALL TO PREVENT SCOUR WITHIN THE PROPOSED TIDAL WETLANDS, PDE WILL REQUIRE A 1600 LF COASTAL STRUCTURE TO BE CONSTRUCTED OF ROCK ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE 8.6 ACRES OF CONSTRUCTED TIDAL WETLANDS WITHIN THE PROJECT FOOTPRINT. THE COASTAL STRUCTURE WILL CONSIST OF OFFSHORE BREAKWATERS, SHORE-ATTACHED BREAKWATERS, AND JETTIES TO PROTECT THE CONSTRUCTED INTERIOR WETLANDS FROM EROSIVE FORCES DUE TO WAVES AND CURRENTS AS WELL AS TO RETAIN THE PROPOSED FILL WITHIN THE PROJECT FOOTPRINT, (THE CONSTRUCTED TIDAL WETLANDS WILL CONSIST OF LOW MARSH, HIGH MARSH, SUPRATIDAL, AND MARITIME SHRUB VEGETATION. THE PROPOSED VEGETATION WILL IMPROVE BIODIVERSITY, HABITAT, WATER QUALITY, AND SHORELINE STABILIZATION WITHIN THE PROJECT FOOTPRINT), STRUCTURES SCOPE - 1. 1. COASTAL STRUCTURE ALONG THE PERIMETER OF THE PROJECT FOOTPRINT WITH A CREST ELEVATION OF +2.5 FT NAVD88. DIMENSIONS OF THE PROPOSED COASTAL STRUCTURE ARE 1600 FT (L) X 30 FT (W) X 5.5 FT (H), ADA COMPLIANT PROPOSED TIMBER BOARDWALK (1,000 SQ FT) CONNECTING THE SIDEWALK ALONG S HANOVER ST TO AN EXISTING OFFSHORE FISHING PIER WITHIN THE PROJECT FOOTPRINT, THE BOARDWALK WILL BE SUPPORTED ON TIMBER PILES THAT ARE STICK-FRAMED.155 FT (L) X 6 FT (W) X 7 FT (H).
