THE WALL SUPPORTS A TRIBUTARY AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 15’-0” WIDE FOR THE SECOND FLOOR AND THE ROOF. WE RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING TO ALLOW FOR BEARING WALL REMOVAL: 1. ERECT A SHORING WALL AT EITHER SIDE OF THE EXISTING WALL. SHORING WALL TO CONSIST OF 2X4 STUDS AT 16” ON CENTER, WITH SINGLE TOP AND BOTTOM PLATES. EACH SHORING WALL IS TO BE LOCATED NO MORE THAN 2’-0” AWAY FROM THE WALL TO BE REMOVED, AND SPAN THE FULL LENGTH OF THE WALL. THE SHORING WALL NEED BE INSTALLED AT THE FIRST FLOOR ONLY. 2. AFTER SHORING IS IN PLACE, INSTALL NEW HEADER. NEW HEADER TO BE A (3) 14” LVL, INSTALLED BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE EXISTING JOISTS. TOE NAIL EACH EXISTING JOIST TO THE NEW HEADER. 3. AT EACH END OF THE NEW BEAM, PROVIDE A NEW POST CONSISTING OF (3) 2X4 JACK STUDS AND ONE 2X4 KING STUD. 4.
